RHS Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture at RBGE

The RHS Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture is a great entry-level qualification. Whether you are starting a career in horticulture, or just want to take your love of plants and gardening further, this course gives you a broad-based understanding of horticulture, garden design and how plants work.

The RHS Level 2 covers a wide range of the core topics for a career in horticulture, including how to propagate and care for indoor plants.

The RHS Level 2 certificate is a stand-alone course and you do not need any prerequisites for the course (Level 1 is a separate practical qualification). This internationally recognised qualification is ideal if you are looking for a career in horticulture, want to take your skills further as a professional or keen amateur, or it is a great complement to existing skills in landscaping or garden design.

You can study it with us in several ways tailored to suit your life, wherever you are in the world:

1. as an online distance course,

2. attendance classes at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) or,

3. a blend of the two, with up to four study weekends at RBGE.

Please read the Applicants' Handbook for full details including course content, structure and pricing. There are also Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which you may find helpful. Alternatively you can complete the form below to ask any further questions.
